LOL NYkid ! For a minute there I was back in a kingdumb hall and could see them all so clearly.
The only addition I can think of off hand is a brother who had been inactive for years, came back to make the wife happy. Anyway, my friend had to catch a ride with him one time. It was the dead of winter, and she said he blasted the air conditioner the whole way. She froze. He told her used to smoke and the car still smelled from it, but she said it smelled pretty recent to her. LOL She wanted to tell him, look I don't care if you smoke, just turn the air conditioner off and put some heat on. We had a good chuckle over that. After she thawed out. It wasn't surprising, he looked like a disheveled Willy Nelson to begin with (!).

Yes, that important life saving work. I was out in CA last week in a hispanic community by accident (the gps navigator malfunctioned), though I could've sworn it was Mexico. Anyhow, in front of a run down grocery store there were 2 old women holding up the mags, or rags if you prefer, with the same glazed expression. Guess that's the target market? There didn't appear to be any candidates for religious conversion in sight, but ya never know.

Good comments, esp. to Honest and Gopher --"The elders will use their authority to come down on you for any little thing if they don't like you. They can be such nitpickers, when it comes to OTHER people. Power trip !!" Or if one elder thinks you could be an easy mark, and starts hounding you, sticking their nose into everything about your life and wanting to question you incessantly, and 'be there for you'.
I was dating a "worldly" guy. He was nice and decent person. This elder made up a story that this particular guy, who he didn't know AT ALL as the boy lived a good distance away, had a "criminal record". This was completely untrue. Moreover, had it been true, there would've been no legal way for this elder to have such knowledge. I pointed that out and demanded to know where that information came from, I wasn't as dumb as he thought. After all the harassment this controlling intrusive elder have put me through, that was the last straw.
